Anthony Flaccavento is the dynamic leader behind Appalachian Sustainable Development. Flaccavento started ASD out of a desire to bridge the gap between environmentalists and people working for economic development. He wanted to show that you can create jobs and protect the environment. 
ASD has launched two social enterprises with a "triple bottom line"—meaning they have three goals: economic, environmental and social.
